The Band
For over fifteen years, the Bluesbreakers have been playing the main blues venues and festivals in Holland and abroad. They are known for the wide range of blues in their repertoire, from ballads to blues rock, spanning almost a century of musical history.
With songs from people like Albert Collins, Melvin Taylor, Larry Garner, in addition to their own compositions, the Bluesbreakers are guaranteed to deliver a swinging blues event every time.
The only remaining founding member Dik “Mr. Brown” Korving rejuvenated the band in early 2011 with seasoned musicians from the rural regions in the east, where the blues has always been, and remains today, an important influence. After some try-outs in the Netherlands and in Germany, the Bluesbreakers are once again a blues force to be reckoned with.
The Bluesbreakers are currently working on their seventh album, expected to be released in the spring of 2012.
The Bluesbreakers played as a backing group or support act for several international artists, such as:
· Dr. Feelgood (UK)
· Willie Foster (USA)
· John Campbell (Canada)
· Keith Dunn (USA)
· Dave Hole (Australia)
· Marty Hall (Canada)
· Chris Jones & Steve Baker (UK)
· Mike Anderson Band (Denmark)A
· Stewart Barnes Band (UK)
Dik korving
Guitar / vocals
Dik “Mr. Brown” Korving, paid his dues in the world of blues. He was renowned for his work with the White Blues Band, touring all over Europe and releasing several albums.
His inspirational sources are Albert Collins, Eelco Gelling, Robert Johnson, and jazz guitar player Joe Pass.
Without doubt, Mr. Brown is a master interpreter of the slow blues. His guitar cuts right to the heart and his weathered voice carries the words straight to the soul. This makes him one of the most notorious bluesmen in Dutch history.
Reinhard Sämisch
Harmonica
Reinhard is the man with the timing and the feel from many years of playing blues harmonica. He plays with Dik for over ten years in the Bluesbreakers. He also shared the stage with many other well-known blues legends like Willi Foster, Steve Baker, Dieter Kropp, Bobo Davis and Tony Vega.
His sharp and melancholic harp is responsible for much of the band’s sound.
Reinhard is a great admirer of Kim Wilson, whose style greatly reflects in his own.
Hans Deegens
Drums
For 40 years Hans plays drums in various bands in the Arnhem region. He played anything from latin to country. The blues, being the foundation of so many other musical styles, is where he can express himself the best. Charlie Watts is his big example. Hans still has a wide angled view on music and likes to go to live concerts. Among his favorite acts are Matt Schofield, Popa Chubby, the Rolling Stones, and Colloseum.
Music is his passion and he intents to live his passion for many years to come. With the Bluesbreakers, of course.
Rino Geerdinck
Bass guitar/vocals
Rino plays the bass guitar since 1981. He played in various bands around Hengelo and Enschede, including Madison State and Brainstorm. These days he lives in Beek (Montferland). His hobbies are guitar playing, photography, and American muscle cars.
“I started playing guitar when I was 8. I got my first electric guitar when I was 12 (Burns Firefly). I used my father’s old Grundig tube radio as an amplifier.
My guitar playing was less than admirable, and in that same year 1981 I switched to playing the bass, a decision I never regretted.”
Francesco Frentrop
Keyboards/vocals
Born and raised in The Hague (considered to be Holland’s number one music city) and living for a considerable time in the American Midwest, Francesco has a musical background in funk, blues, rock, soul, country and jazz. He played on European stages from Tornio to Toremolinos, and on such great US happenings as the River City Roundup.
Although claiming to be influenced by Bill Payne, Billy Powell, Dr. John, and Paul Schaffer (pre-Late Show), his unique style is beyond compare.
With his worn out ivories and ditto voice, it was inevitable that he would return to the righteous road of blues sooner or later.
